The main purpose of this book ist to deal with the modern armoured battle and the development of the Tank. It may be said that with the disappearance of the horse from modern armies the role of the two main divisions of the cavalry of the past - the heavy mounted troops used for shock tactics and the light horsemen employed for obtaining information and screening purposes - have devolved on various types of armoured vehicles.
